Methodist Children’s Home of Southwest Louisiana has successfully completed our first year of ministry to children and their families in southwest Louisiana. We thank you for making this possible. With the participation of more than 250 friends gathered for a Dedicatory Service on October 17, 2010, Methodist Children’s Home of Southwest Louisiana was dedicated by [...] Tony Cain was recently named Principal and Director of Educational Services, joining a distinguished list of educators who have served our Home in this capacity. In 1985, the Lorraine Nobles Howard Education Center, also known as Howard School, opened to serve the Home’s residents who were unable to attend the public schools in Lincoln Parish. [...] This has been an exciting week! We began admitting our first children into Methodist Children’s Home of Southwest Louisiana this past Wednesday. You will remember the Dedication Service for the new facility in Sulphur was held last year on October 17, 2010. The service was attended by more than 250 people who are excited [...] The Bull Buteau Foundation of Shreveport is hosting their 2nd Annual Sporting Clay Shoot on July 30, 2011 and the proceeds will again benefit the Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home. Last year $25,000 was donated to the Children’s Home for a classroom in the new John H. Allen Career and Vocational Center and this year’s proceeds [...] The summer of 2011 will mark the fourth consecutive year our OWL Equine Program has participated in MedCamps. Held each week during June and July, MedCamps offers incredible summer camping experiences for children with a variety of physical and mental challenges. Each session of camp targets a different disability and includes appropriate health professionals, specially [...] The OWL Equine Program has partnered with the ULM (University of Louisiana at Monroe) Gerontology Department, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), and Lincoln Parish Truancy Assessment Services in a truancy prevention program. They have just wrapped up the program in which they are targeting local public school youth who struggle with truancy, and [...] Homecoming events will take place this weekend, beginning with a Fish Fry at our OWL Center in Dubach, LA on Saturday afternoon at 4pm. All alumni are invited to attend this function, as well as the additional events on Sunday. Please join us for coffee, juice and donuts on Sunday at 9:30am at the James [...] The Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home’s Annual Golf Tournament will be held May 13, 2011 at Calvert Crossing Golf Club. Proceeds of the event will benefit the youth summer activities program for the children residing at Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home. Lunch will be served at 11:30 with Tee Off at 1:00.
