Ruston, LA – August 24, 2010 – Louisiana United Methodist Children and Family Services is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Steven M. Franks as Program Director for its new facility located in Sulphur, LA. The Methodist Children’s Home of Southwest Louisiana will be a residential facility able to serve up to 32 youth [...] Several of the OWL Center Staff participated in the LSU Ag Center Master Gardener’s Class this past spring. Samantha Luttrell, Tammy Stevens, Cindy Croft and Sara Corley took part in classes from March to the end of May. The subjects covered in the class included plant pathology, vegetable gardening, ornamental horticulture, and many other subjects. [...] Many children across Louisiana have attended Vacation Bible School at various churches recently. Several churches took up offerings during VBS and donated the proceeds to our Home. We are grateful to all of them for thinking of us and for the work these churches are doing in the lives of children across our state. Arlene Banks, a teacher at Howard School on the Ruston campus of Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home, implemented a voluntary Summer Enrichment program.
