Family Counseling Center

The Family Counseling Center, in Ruston, Louisiana, is an outreach of Louisiana Methodist Children's Home to serve the community.  Outpatient services are provided by trained clinicians, including licensed professional counselors and licensed marriage and family therapists.  They provide individual psychotherapy and family therapy for children, adolescent, and adults.  These services are provided on a sliding scale fee by one full-time and three part-time therapists.  A psychologist (Director of Clinical Services) is available for consultation and counseling.

One part-time therapist is funded by the Crime Victims Assistance program and provides services without charge to victims of violent crimes.  This person cares for people from the community as well as residents of Louisiana Methodist Children's Home.

Two family therapists for the residents of the Home are also housed in the Family Counseling Center building to accommodate families of the residents.  Psychiatric services are provided on a limited basis by a consulting psychiatrist to integrate medical treatment with counseling services.

Play therapy for children is provided in a room appropriately furnished and equipped for working with children.  Family evaluations are conducted to assist the court system in making difficult decisions regarding custody and related issues.  Community outreach activities include providing educational services and public speaking as well as actively networking with other agencies to address community needs.
