Become a Local Church Representative (LCR)
Job Description and Suggestions
Purpose: To serve as a liaison between your church and Louisiana Methodist Children's Home, and help strengthen the relationship between the two.
This can be accomplished by:
- Praying for LMCH youth and staff.
- Serving as a volunteer LMCH representative:
- Be our hands, eyes, ears and mouth for LMCH in your local congregation.
- Keep LMCH updated on how we can better serve your church.
- Keep congregation informed of current LMCH events.
- Receive information from the Home on a regular basis.
- Insure that LMCH information is posted or given to all appropriate parties.
- Show church organizations (UMM, UMW, Bible Studies, Youth Groups, etc.) how they can have an active role in LMCH. Show the LMCH video to these groups.
- Organize a group from your church to tour LMCH and the Outdoor Wilderness Learning (OWL) center. Call the Development Office to schedule your visit: 1 (866) 255-5380.
- Holding a fund-raiser event with proceeds going to LMCH (spaghetti dinner, video night, car wash, garage sale, golf tournament, etc.)
- Promoting LMCH's Mother's Day offering.
- Make announcements to general congregation regarding the importance of LMCH's only offering of the year.
- Visit different Sunday School classes as Mother's Day approaches, perhaps even promoting a challenge between the classes.
- Insure that the offering is being taken up at the proper time and that envelopes are in each church bulletin.
- Participating in LMCH's holiday activities.
- Encourage your congregation to become and Angel Tree sponsor.
- Promote the LMCH Christmas Honor card project.
The LCR serves in a vital role for LMCH. We greatly appreciate the dedication of each LCR.
