In continuous operation for 110 years, Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home is located in Ruston, Louisiana, the center of north Louisiana. In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s the Methodist Episcopal Church South in Louisiana was concerned with the large number of children who were without parents or homes. At the instigation of Rev. Charles Campbell “CC” Weir, the Annual Conference resolved to create Louisiana Methodist Orphanage in December, 1902. In 1904, the first residence was opened in Bunkie, Louisiana. That same year, forty acres of land in Ruston were deeded to the Orphanage Board and in 1906 the Orphanage was relocated from Bunkie.
Today, Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home is the setting for a continuum of holistic, behavioral health services for children and families.
