Transitional Living Program
From Dependence to Independence ... One Step at a Time
Louisiana Methodist Children's Home's Transitional Living Program (TLP) works to help older adolescents make a successful transition to self-sufficiency. The primary goal of TLP is to establish and support older adolescents in independent, apartment-living arrangements, preventing their long-term dependence on the social services system.
The Transitional Living Program offers participants guidance, support, and exercises designed to develop independent living skills and promote personal growth. Participants are integrated into their community.
A supervised apartment environment provides a more realistic independent living experience than either a foster or group home. The Transitional Living Program offers older teens opportunities to gain practical skills in self-sufficiency and focuses on educational, vocational, social and interpersonal development.
